Unleashing the Full Potential of “Break Free From Plastic”

From fewer than a hundred organizations during its founding meeting in July 2016, the membership of Break Free From Plastic has grown rapidly with almost six thousand organizations and individual supporters worldwide who subscribe to the vision and principles of the movement.

A fast-growing movement such as this brings additional demands and challenges, specifically in the areas of coordination, capacity building, recruitment, and vetting processes for new and associate members. With the help of Plastic Solutions Fund, the BFFP Global Steering Committee has launched this project to organize, build and develop their membership database and to introduce a Community Engagement manager position. The project provides targeted and necessary support to the the #breakfreefromplastics movement, helping the movement to further blossom as a vibrant, self-organizing force that will push for lasting solutions to plastic pollution problem.
