Planet Tracker is a non-profit financial think tank that uses analytics to create reports that redefine financial and environmental data with the aim to influence the practices of decision makers (like shareholders and credit lenders) to avoid ecological collapse.
With the help of Plastics Solutions Fund, Planet Tracker aims to curtail the unsustainable production of plastic products.
The premise of this project is that if financial institutions are equipped with reliable and extensive data that highlights the risks involved in investing in plastic production companies, they will alter their investment pattern and adopt a more environmentally sustainable business model. The project aims to create data-rich, analytical and relevant reports that will highlight demand and supply side environment-related investment risks and equip the financial community with constructive plans for short-term action.
Additionally, these reports aim to influence consumer demand, corporate behavior, investor conduct and policy implementation as well as create consumer awareness and aid civil society activism.
