With Plastic Solutions Fund support, the Plastic Free Los Angeles project will engage in outreach to communities, businesses, and local elected officials and build support for equitable City and County ordinances to reduce single-use plastic in Los Angeles.
The project will focus on catalyzing frontline and underrepresented communities to better understand and support County and City ordinances that restrict single-use plastics because of its pernicious impacts on community health and the environment. The campaign will use four primary strategies: research, policy development and political strategy, communications, outreach and organizing.
This effort builds from a convening that Resources Legacy Fund (RLF) held in October 2019, bringing together leading environmental justice, equity, and environmental groups – from across the region — with LA County and City staff to discuss the process of developing single-use plastics ordinances in 2020.
