Perpetual: Bringing Reusable Foodware to City Scale in Four Small US Cities

Perpetual’s goal is to advance the implementation of well-designed reuse systems to create immersive, community-scale, economically viable systems that benefit the community and accelerate the broader adoption of reuse.

Operational community-scale reuse systems are critical to proving the financial, operational, environmental, and behavioral viability of reuse systems as a long-term solution to plastic waste and pollution, climate change, water usage, and human exposure to harmful chemicals.

However, no single actor can solve the challenge of reuse on its own: the creation of open-loop reuse systems at scale requires an independent convener that can bring together all the relevant stakeholders in a participatory process, the role that Perpetual is playing in four U.S. cities.
