Stopping the Petrochemical Hub Buildout in Pennsylvania

With more than 1.1 million supporters, Food & Water Watch fights for safe food, clean water, and a livable climate for all of us.

The goal of the project is to increase the capacity for digital organizing and activism during the time of COVID-19 in order to defeat the supply side of the petrochemical hub buildout in Pennsylvania.  Plastic Solutions Fund support will help provide the funds needed for the increased use of digital tools and technical capacity to pass additional local zoning ordinances in Allegheny County to prevent fracking.

These ordinances will help prevent the industry from accessing the natural gas liquids used as feedstock for the plastics industry, which could prevent the industry from building out its proposed Appalachian Storage Hub in the region.

Food & Water Watch has been successful in passing local zoning ordinances in over a dozen communities throughout Allegheny County – taking land slated for fracking off the table.
