Waste Matters

The Waste Matters project is a collaboration between the Kashtakari Panchayat Trust (established in 2010 to support wastepickers and their families) and SWaCH (a wholly worker-owned co-operative of wastepickers in Pune, India).

With the help of Plastics Solutions Fund, KPT and SWaCH are creating a live-demonstration zero-waste model and advocating for its replication in Pune City and across urban centers in India.

In addition to a realistic, replicable blueprint for zero-waste cities, this project is developing a comprehensive data modeling and analytics tool to track the benefits of this blueprint. With this tool, KPT and SWaCH are empowering proponents of zero-waste cities projects in Asia to generate data that will support worldwide advocacy for zero-waste systems.
